How does the Allurion Balloon Work?
The Allurion balloon helps to limit the amount you can eat by making you feel more full. A soft balloon that is swallowed, then inflated in your stomach. It remains in place for up to sixteen weeks, with an average resulting weight loss of 10 to 15kg. Placement is quick and requires no surgery, endoscopy or anaesthesia.

Placement
u003cspan style=u0022font-weight: 400;u0022u003eThe procedure requires no surgery, endoscopy or anaesthesia. In less than 20 minutes, youāll swallow a thin capsule with a small tube, and your surgeon will use an X-ray to make sure the balloon is safely positioned in your stomach. The balloon will be filled through the tube before the tube is removed, completing the process. u003c/spanu003e
Removal
u003cspan style=u0022font-weight: 400;u0022u003eAt about 16 weeks, the balloon will deflate itself and pass naturally through the body, with no need for further appointments with your surgeon.u003c/spanu003e
Life with the Allurion balloon

Eating with the Allurion balloon
u003cspan style=u0022font-weight: 400;u0022u003eYour surgeon or nutritionist may suggest drinking only liquids for the first couple of days after your placement, progressing to solid foods when you feel more comfortable doing so. The Allurion Balloon is designed to help you get used to eating smaller meals. Your personalised plan will be created before your placement by your PHC dedicated nutritionist and you will be fully supported throughout your balloon journey.u003c/spanu003e

Ongoing Support
Your dedicated PHC registered nutritionist is highly experienced in weight loss nutrition and will be on hand to guide & support you, covering a period before, during and after the placement. During this period, the balloon will pass at 16 weeks. Depending on which Allurion programme you choose, our team of leading surgeons, nutritionists and functional medicine doctors are there to support you every step of the way.
- Allurion Bronze 4 month programme – 3 hours of dedicated 1-1 video/phone calls with the nutritionist, which includes an initial 90 minutes before the balloon placement and 2 x 45 mins appointments every other month
- Allurion Silver 9 month programme – 5.25 hours of dedicated 1-1 video/phone calls with the nutritionist, which includes an initial 90 minutes before the balloon placement and 5 x 45 mins appointments every other month
- Allurion Gold 12 month programme – 5.25 hours of dedicated 1-1 video/phone calls with the nutritionist, which includes an initial 90 minutes before the balloon placement and 5 x 45 mins appointments every other month, 5.25 hours of dedicated 1-1 video/phone calls with the functional medicine doctor, 2 x functional medicine blood tests, 2 x nurse concierge home visits to take bloods, 2 x further diagnostic tests and up to 4 x nutritional supplements per month included
